Amazon is lining up a remake of Israeli thriller False Flag.

The TV series, which debuted on Hulu in the US and airs on FOX in the UK, is created by Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman. It follows five people who wake up to find themselves implicated in a kidnapping operation, after the Iranian Defence Minister goes missing. With their photos appearing in news reports, their denials fall on deaf ears. When the government turns on them too and accuse them as suspects, they find themselves on the run from authorities and doubted by loved ones.

Directed by Oded Raskin, it stars Ishai Golan, Maggie Azarzar, Angel Bonanni, Ania Bukstein and Orna Salinger. The result has proven a hit, with the first run winning the Grand Prize at Series Mania. With a second season already premiering recently and a Russian remake on the way, it is perhaps to surprise that it should become the latest programme to be snapped up for a US-language take – Homeland, which did something similar, has proven a huge success over the years

Deadline broke the news of Apple developing the project for subscription service Apple+, also noting that it is not the first Keshet International production to land at the tech giant’s streaming platform: Apple+ is also reportedly working on a remake of Nevelot starring Richard Gere.
