Apple TV+ has come aboard new spy thriller Tehran.

The series, which is broadcast by Kan 11 in Israel, follows a Mossad computer hacker-agent undertaking her first mission in the Iranian capital. Tasked with disabling a nuclear reactor, her mission takes on a global scale, but when the mission fails, she goes rogue in Tehran, which is also her home town. And, as she rediscovers her roots, she becomes romantically involved with a pro-democracy activist.

The eight-part series stars Israeli actress Niv Sultan as Tamar, alongside Iron Man actor Shaun Toub and Homeland‘s Navid Negahban. It is created and written by Moshe Zonder, who penned Netflix’s Fauda. Zonder created the show alongside Dana Eden and Maor Kohn, with Omri Shenhar also attached as writer. At the helm is Daniel Syrkin, with Eden, Shula Spiegel, Alon Aranya, Julien Leroux, Peter Emerson and Eldad Koblenz all exec-producers.

Distributed by Cineflix Rights, Apple TV+ has now boarded the project, co-producing the programme and also holding the international rights to the show outside of Israel.
