DC’s Stargirl is heading to Amazon Prime Video in the UK, with the comic book series set to premiere this August.

Based on the DC Comics superhero Courtney Whitmore created by Johns and Lee Moder, the show is one of the original shows created for DC’s subscription platform DC Universe. With no sign of the platform coming to the UK, its original series have instead been sold off to broadcasters and streamers in the UK, including Harley Quinn to E4, Doom Patrol to STARZPLAY and Titans to Netflix. Stargirl is the last of the four live-action shows to find a UK home, with Amazon – also the home of the now-cancelled Swamp Thing – stepping up to snap up the programme.

DC’s Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger, School of Rock) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to take up the legacy of a long-lost superhero team – The Justice Society of America – and stop the villains of the past. DC’s Stargirl also stars Luke Wilson (Old School) Yvette Monreal (Matador), Anjelika Washington (Young Sheldon), Cameron Gellman (Heathers), Trae Romano (555) and Jake Austin Walker (Rectify).

The series premiered on 18th May in the US. Now, within weeks of that release, Amazon has confirmed that the series will premiere in the UK on Friday 21st August.
