Josh Peck to star in Turner and Hooch series for Disney+

Josh Peck will star in a new Turner and Hooch series for Disney+.
The project, which was first reported as being in development last December, has now been officially given the green light, sources have told Variety. Peck will play the lead role of Scott Turner, an ambitious, straight-laced US Marshall who inherits Hooch, the big, unruly dog of the title.
Will the pet he didn’t want become the partner he needs? There are no points for guessing, with the original Turner and Hooch film starring Tom Hanks (pictured above) regarded as one of cinema’s favourite cop double-acts. Now, the 1989 film is the latest Disney title to be resurrected and rebooted for its new subscription platform.
Peck needs no introduction for family audiences, having starred in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh and Grandfathered, as well as The Mindy Project. He is no stranger to streamers, either, having appeared in Netflix’s Fuller House. Most recently seen n The Gifted and Burn Notice, he will play Turner in 12 episodes.
Matt Nix is writing and exec-producing the show, with Josh Levy on board as co-EP.
The project joins fellow revived Disney movies The Mighty Ducks and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids in the House of Mouse’s ongoing nostalgic push as part of its original content strategy.
