After starting the year off in style with the return of The Walking Dead and a host of new comedies on their own dedicated channel, Sky and NOW TV are getting into the swing of 2020 this March, with a wave of big-hitters on the way. HBO’s Westworld makes a return for a third season, leading a group of returning favourites that includes The Trip to Greece, Bulletproof and Jim Carrey comedy Kidding. New series include British parenting comedy Breeders, US hit Mrs Fletcher and a new take on the sci-fi classic War of the Worlds.

Sky Cinema, meanwhile, is serving up some of 2019’s biggest movies, including The Lion King and Rocketman.

TV

Broad City: Season 1 to 5 – 2nd March

Created by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer and produced by Amy Poehler, this hit American comedy follows two best friends navigating their 20s in New York City. They may be broke and flawed, but they never shy away from the absurd situations and awkward encounters the Big Apple throws at them.

The Bisexual – 2nd March

Fresh from winning the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, Desiree Akhavan (The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Appropriate Behaviour) co-writes (with long-term collaborator Cecilia Frugiuele), directs and stars in The Bisexual, a new comedy drama which offers a raw, funny and unapologetic take on the “last taboo” – bisexuality – and the prejudices, shame and comic misconceptions that surround it. With Desiree’s trademark dry wit, the series takes a candid look at people’s approach to love and sex, and what the love and sex they’re drawn to reveals about them.

Blue Bloods: Season 10 (Sky Witness, 10pm) – 2nd March

Police commissioner Frank Reagan oversees his department as diplomatically as he runs his family in this US drama.

The Trip to Greece (Sky One, 10pm) – 3rd March

Rob Brydon (The Trip, A Cock and Bull Story) and Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge, PhilomenaI) return for the latest instalment of their travel series, exploring all the history, culture and culinary delights that Greece has to offer while swapping impressions and veiled insults. All episodes available at once on-demand.

War of the Worlds: Season 1 (FOX UK, 9pm) – 5th March

Set in present-day Europe, War Of The Worlds is eight-part drama written and created by the BAFTA award winner Howard Overman (Misfits, Crazyhead, Merlin) based on the timeless story by H.G. Wells.

Legion: Season 1 to 3 – 5th March

Noah Hawley’s X-Men series is a mind-bending piece of TV, following David Haller (Dan Stevens), a haunted man with power beyond comprehension. His power does not come free, but at the steep cost of David’s mind. Plagued by numerous split personalities – each commanding a different aspect of his power – David is trying to find his way back to sanity. He’s about to give up… until he met the girl of his dreams (Rachel Keller).

Babylon Berlin: Season 3 (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) – 6th March

Picking back up in 1929, the Nazi Party’s rise to power has begun, as they begin to exploit the desperation caused by the poverty and unemployment in the city, and as the young republic begins to crumble, Berlin indulges in a frenzy of drugs, dancing and cabaret. It’s here that Chief Inspector Gereon Rath and his protégée Charlotte Ritter investigate a new case – the murder of a silent screen actress.

Mrs Fletcher (Sky Comedy, 10.15pm) – 10th March

Preparing for an empty nest as her son sets off for college, a recently divorced Eve Fletcher (Kathryn Hahn; Bad Moms, Step Brothers) begins to reimagine herself as she is finally satisfied in her life. Mirrored with her son’s ‘first-time’ experiences of youth, Mrs Fletcher examines the sexual politics of every age. All episodes available at once on-demand.

Breeders (Sky One, 10pm) – 12th March

It’s the classic parental paradox – it is possible, in the very same moment, to love your child to thehorizon of the universe, yet still be angry enough to want to send them there. Starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard, this is the ultimate, relatable parenting comedy.

Westworld: Season 3 (Sky Atlantic, 2am/9pm) – 16th March

The critically-acclaimed drama, diving deeply and darkly into the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin returns… and the inmates have escaped the asylum. Season three sees Aaron Paul and Vincent Cassel join the cast as the critical event that marked the finale of the last season threatens to consume the outside world. Could it be that Westworld’s violent delights become humanity’s end? The latest series will be simulcasting in the UK on the same day as the US.

Sunnyside (Sky Comedy, 9pm) – 16th March

Kal Penn (perhaps best known as the eponymous Kumar from the Harold and Kumar films) stars in this bright and breezy sitcom that takes a sideways glance at the place where the Trump-era immigration policies meet the American Dream.

The Shield: Season 1 to 7 – 20th March

Known for breaking conventions of the genre, the popular and acclaimed series from Sony Pictures Television plays out in the tough, morally ambiguous world of an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct, where the line between good and evil is crossed every day. Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four, American Horror Story, Gotham) is Detective Vic Mackey, an effective but corrupt cop who operates under his own set of rules as leader of the elite Strike Team.

Bulletproof: Season 2 (Sky One, 9pm) – 20th March

The second season of this crime drama sees Bishop (Noel Clarke; Kidulthood) and Pike (Ashley Walters; Top Boy) go undercover to infiltrate an international crime empire. Their chase for justice takes them from the streets of London to the likes of Amsterdam and Cyprus, where they will have to risk everything, including their police badges, to succeed. Big Little Lies: Season 1 and 2 – 27th March

Lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and the vicious ferocity of sound parenting all come under the microscope in HBO’s fantastic drama, which stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern – and, in Season 2, Meryl Streep.

Deadwood: The Movie – 27th March

One of HBO’s most iconic series finally gets the conclusion it deserves as, thirteen years after the series final episode, the original cast reunite for a feature length return to Deadwood. A forerunner in bringing high-production values to television, Deadwood was also responsible for reviving the career of Ian McShane in his role as brothel owner Al Swearengen – for which he won both a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award. Timothy Olyphant also returns as Swearengen’s chief rival, Sheriff Seth Bullock, as the two look to finally settle their scores with one another.

Kidding: Season 2 (Sky Comedy) – 31st March

Jim Carrey reprises his first serialised role in over two decades as Mr Pickles, a children’s entertainer struggling to cope with the real world. All episodes available at once on-demand.

Hitmen (Sky One) – Date TBC

Mel and Sue go from Chelsea buns to hired guns in their first scripted television comedy together. The duo play best friends Fran and Jamie, two misfits just trying to make an honest living, which happens to involve contract killing. And they’re not even especially good at it. Working out of their scruffy van, the hapless pair stumble from mark to mark, with each hit inevitably complicated by their bickering, oddball antics and gross incompetence. John Wick they ain’t.

Sky Cinema

Brightburn – 6th March

An extra-terrestrial child mysteriously crash lands on Earth. His powers are unlike anything ever seen – but can they actually be harnessed for good?

The Lion King – 13th March

The latest live-action Disney reimaging from Jon Favreau follows Simba, a brave young lion who flees the kingdom after the murder of his father. Learning the true meaning of responsibility and bravery along the way, Simba encounters friends and foes, new and old.

Rocketman – 27th March

In this true story of Elton John’s early years, Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle) puts on a Golden Globe winning performance as the biopic’s leading man.
