Netflix cancels Dad Stop Embarrassing Me after one season
Staff Writer
Netflix has cancelled Dad Stop Embarrassing Me after one season.
The comedy series starred Jamie Foxx and was inspired by his relationship with his daughter, Corinne Fox. Corinne and Jamie produced the series alongside Alex Avant. In front of the camera, Jamie was joined by David Alan Grier and Kyla-Drew. Behind the camera, Bentley Kyle Evans (Martin) served as showrunner.
It was not the first project from the father-daughter duo, who previously collaborated on Fox competition series Beat Shazam. Despite their screen charisma and star power, though, the show will not return for a second season.
Deadline reports that Foxx was involved in the decision to end the show. Indeed, the actor has a long-standing relationship with the streamer, which includes films They Cloned Tyrone and Day Shift.
Jamie Foxx stars in Netflix’s Dad Stop Embarrassing Me
Jamie Foxx will star in Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, a new Netflix series inspired by his relationship with his daughter.
The multi-camera comedy will take its cues from the actor’s bond with Corinne Fox, with Foxx taking the lead role as the embarrassing dad. Corinne, meanwhile, will produce the series alongside Foxx and Alex Avant.
In front of the camera, Foxx will be joined by David Alan Grier and Kyla-Drew. Behind the camera, Bentley Kyle Evans (Martin) serves as showrunner.
This is not the first time that Foxx and Corinne have collaborated on a project, with the Fox competition Beat Shazam hosted by the actor and DJ-ed by his daughter. It also marks something of a follow-up to The Jamie Foxx Show, which the actor co-created with Evans and marked his last TV starring role.
While Foxx has been away from scripted TV for a couple of decades, he’s no stranger to Netflix, having recently starred in the streaming giant’s superhero blockbuster Project Power.
