Peaky Blinders to end with Season 6

Staff Writer

Peaky Blinders will return for a sixth and final season.

The hit crime family saga, written and created by Steven Knight, has become a cult phenomenon since launching in 2013. It stars Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, a crime boss in Birmingham during the 1920s. Season 5 saw Tommy elected as MP for Birmingham South with the Wall Street Crash on the horizon. Now, creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the show will be back once again – but for the last time.

Season 6 is written by Knight and will once again be directed by Anthony Byrne, with Nick Goding producing. Alongside Knight, executive producers include Caryn Mandabach, Jamie Glazebrook, David Mason, Anthony Byrne and Cillian Murphy. Tommy Bulfin is executive producer for the BBC and Lucy Bedford is executive producer for Tiger Aspect. Peaky Blinders, from Caryn Mandabach Productions, is co-produced with Tiger Aspect Productions and distributed internationally by Banijay Ri

The Peaky Blinders production team have developed comprehensive production protocols to ensure that Season 6 will be produced in a safe and responsible manner, and in accordance with government guidelines.

“Peaky is back and with a bang”, said Knight in a statement. “After the enforced production delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best season of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it.”

Knight also teased, however, that “while the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form”.
