Netflix has renewed Sex Education for a third season.

The coming-of-age comedy, which stars Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield, follows Otis Milburn, a socially awkward high school student who lives with his sex therapist mother, Jean. In Season 1, Otis and his friend Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) set up a sex clinic at school to capitalise on his intuitive talent for sex advice.

Season 2, which debuted earlier this year, saw Jean encroach on his territory by stepping into the high school and offering counselling and guidance herself. All the while, Otis is juggling his relationship with Patricia Allison’s Ola and with Maeve, while Ola is off discovering herself, Aimee-Lou Wood’s Aimee Gibbs struggles with a traumatic incident and Ncuti Gatwa’s scene-stealing Eric finds himself torn between Connor Swindells’ Adam and Sami Outalbali’s new French student Rahim.

What will happen between Eric and Adam? Fans will now be able to find out, as Netflix has officially confirmed that the show will return for a third season – an announcement made within weeks of the Season 2 debut.

“Netflix’s charmingly crude coming-of-age comedy is smart, sweet and side-splittingly funny,” we wrote in our review of Season 2.

Season 3 will go into production later this year. The announcement came in the form of a video featuring Alistair Petrie, who plays the show’s uptight headmaster, giving us a tongue-in-cheek tour of the school’s art gallery. Here’s the video:
