Trailer: Succession returns for Season 2 this August

Reading time: 2 mins
This week sees the return of HBO’s Succession for Season 2.
Written and created by Oscar nominee Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop), with a pilot directed by Oscar winner Adam McKay (The Big Short), the show is a hysterical and darkly scathing drama about a wealthy family that’s slowly tearing itself apart. The 10-episode first season introduced us to the Roy family — Logan Roy and his four children — which controls one of the biggest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world, tracking their lives as they contemplate what the future will hold for them once their ageing father begins to step back from the company. Power struggles, ego clashes, moral dilemmas and more all collide in a melting pot of inheritance, arrogance and family affection – a recipe for hilariously awkward conflict.
The cast includes Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Natalie Gold, Peter Friedman and Rob Yang.
Season 2 sees the ensemble reprise their roles, as eldest son Kendall (Jeremy Strong) is still addled from the events in England and trying to make amends with his dad, Logan (Brian Cox). He, meanwhile, receives some unvarnished advice from his financial banker about the next best move for Waystar Royco. As clueless outsider Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) continues to manoeuvre for a new position in the company, Shiv (Sarah Snook) tries to determine whether Logan is playing mind games regarding his successor.
The series premieres on Sky Atlantic on 12th August 2019. The good news? Sky will be simulcasting the series in the UK, airing Episode 1 at 2am, at the same time it airs in the US. The episode will then be available immediately to watch on-demand for Sky customers, with a repeat at 9pm for those who prefer an appointed time to tune in. Don’t have Sky? The other good news is you can also stream it live and on-demand on NOW TV, as part of a £7.99 monthly Entertainment Pass, with no contract.
