“Where am I? Who am I?” Those are the questions immediately facing a woman in Oxygen, Netflix’s new thriller from Alexandre Aja.

The Piranha 3D and The Hills Have Eyes director broke out on to the international stage with Switchblade Romance in 2003, and has since gone on to helm a number of US horror flicks. Now, he’s back on French soil for the thriller, which is written by Christie LeBlanc and was previously on the Black List of unproduced screenplays.

It follows a woman who wakes up in a cryogenic unit with no memory. Quickly running out of oxygen, she must find a way to remember who she is in order to survive.

Starring Mélanie Laurent (Inglorious Basterds) and Mathieu Amalric, the film premieres on Netflix on 12th May – and now, a new trailer gives us a first glimpse of the close-quarters claustrophobia we can expect.
