Netflix promises a surprising and moving start to the new year, with After Life and Cheer both returning to our screens, along with the first part of Ozark’s final chapter. There’s also action on offer from new film Munich: The Edge of War and a third season of TNT’s Snowpiercer, drama from the fourth season of The Sinner – and, in a sly slice of self-awareness, the debut of satirial thriller series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.

Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in January 2022:

Cats – 1st January

This stunningly misjudged adaptation of the hit musical has to be seen to be believed.

Werewolves Within – 1st January

Josh Ruben’s hilarious werewolf whodunnit shows the divided community of America with real charm.

Scream 4 – 1st January

This surprising, smart sequel is a frightfully entertaining return to old haunts.

The Constant Gardener – 1st January

Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz are superb in this stylish and compelling tale of corruption and loss.

The Nest – 3rd January

Jude Law and Carrie Coon star in Sean Durkin’s latest slow-burn thriller.

The Wasteland – 6th January

Too Hot to Handle: Season 3 – 19th January

Netflix’s dating contest is back, with another cast of people taking on the chastity challenge.

The Royal Treatment – 20th January

When Izzy and her fellow stylists get the opportunity of a lifetime to do the hair for the royal wedding, she and Prince Thomas learn that taking control of their own destiny requires following their hearts.

Ozark: Season 4, Part 1 – 21st January

This crime drama, directed and produced by Jason Bateman, revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Netflix’s drama explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival, through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans. Season 4 is its final chapter and promises to be as dark as ever, with another mess for the Byrdes to try and clear up.

Munich: The Edge of War – 21st January

Snowpiercer: Season 3 – 25th January

Season 3 of TNT’s series based on the sci-fi film of the same name picks up with the cast divided once again into two camps, as Layton (Daveed Diggs) and his small circle of loyal followers hope to find a way to restart civilisation, while Sean Bean’s Mr Wilford consolidates his position of power.

After two hapless TV technicians stumble upon a murder scene, every step they take to avoid becoming suspects lands them in deeper trouble.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window: Season 1 – 28th January

This satirical thriller, which riffs on Netflix’s panned film The Woman in the Window, as well as other modern potboilers such as Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, stars Kristen Bell as Anna, for whom every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbour (Tom Riley) and his adorable daughter move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or does she?
